Light of Faith is an innovative program for formation and catechesis for young adults (High School-Parochial & Public) preparing for the sacrament of Confirmation. It is a program that is set up to be completed in 2 years, but is able to be extended for a 3rd year should an individual be unable to meet all the criteria in that time.
The theology of the program is solidly grounded in the Catechism of the Catholic Church in ways that are directed toward the adolescent. The program is facilitated by volunteers, and offers age appropriate general catechism, Sacrament of Confirmation specific instruction & an elective class that allows students to see how their faith can survive in the 21st century. There are 2 1-Day retreats; one upon entering the program and the other at the end of year 1. There are also 2 mini retreats for the students that they will share with their parents and their sponsors, respectively.
Additionally, students expand their knowledge through Community Service and gathering of Faith Points; attending various rites and rituals of the Church that will give them a greater sense of the beauty & richness of Catholicism.
Admission to the program is for those that have successfully completed continuous Religious Education either through CCD, parochial school or a combination of the two, has previously been Baptized, received 1st Reconciliation and 1st Communion.
