The Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults is the process by
which adults (typically those who have completed their teen years) become Catholic
Christians and/or receive the Sacraments of Initiation (Baptism, Eucharist, and
Confirmation). In simpler terms, it is the way people become Catholics, full members of
the Roman Catholic Church. At St. Marys the process usually starts in September and
concludes at Eastertime. Meetings are essentially weekly and intended to be interesting
and interactive. The process starts slowly with an inquiry or introductory phase to let
folks get a sense of where the Lord is leading them. The process is for the unbaptized,
for non-Catholic Christians, and for Catholics who may not have received First Eucharist
or Confirmation. It is also for their family and friends.
